With the semester over and summer here, Justin, the station manager, and I have been talking. This sunday will be the last 2 hours show. On May 22nd we will go to a 3 hour show, 3 to 6 pm central. We will also be doing some live shows during the summer, after the Road Dogs on Hogs Deal’s Gap Ride in June. I look forward to having the extra hour and the opportunity of doing the live shows. Remember that I am usually on the Gear Jammin Radio Fan Page on Facebook during the broadcast of the show. So join me there during the show, or leave your comments and song requests.

As always, you know what to do…

Keep it between the ditches, the shinny side up, the dirty side down, and I will catch ya on the flip!

Here is information if you wish to help some of the people affected by the tornados in Alabama. The bigger cites are getting help but some of the smaller communities are not. I have some friends in the Jacksonville, AL area that are trying to help a local church gather what they can.

Send donations in the form of Wal Mart gift cards to the church.

UPDATE: Please note that there has been a change of date to June 9 – 15, 2011.

This year, in addition to the ride to Sturgis, Road Dogs on Hogs is also going to do a ride June 9 – 15 to the Deal’s Gap area. The Tail of the Dragon is a very popular ride in the area. It has 318 curves in 11 miles. Many riders over the years have wrecked or been killed on the road. But that is not the only great ride in the area. There is:

Tail of the Dragon

Six Gap

Moonshiner 28

Devil’s Triangle

and Cherohala Skyway.

Feel free to invite your friends!

So start making your plans if you would like to do something different this year with the group. It promises to be a great week of riding and camaraderie.

I know that some have had a problem with buffering when trying to listen to the show on-line. We now have new streaming on the WUSM website -www.southernmissradio.com – and now it is iPhone compatible as well! So be sure to it up this afternoon from 4 to 6pm CT and listen to the show. It is going to be a great show packed with a lot of trucking tunes that I think you will not have heard before.

If you are having trouble with iTunes, copy this link: streaming.servercorps.com:8000/WUSM.m3u
under advanced, paste that as a URL- it will get you there

I am working on getting a playlist of songs up on the website. There are about 538 songs right now and I have to enter them into the table one by one. When it is done, you will be able to look for songs by title, artist, or album. I just got started on it today, so it may take me a couple of days to get all the songs listed. But you can go ahead an take a loo at what is there now. Just click on “Playlist” at the bottom of the page.

I hope you find this tool useful. As always, if you don’t see a certain truckin’ or road song on the list that you would like to hear, shoot me an email to whiterose@gearjamminradio.com and I will do my best to find it and play it.

Bayou Boy is a Louisiana Owner/Operator that I met a few years ago. He is now pulling a drop deck and thinking about buying a double drop. (insider news: Gear Jammin Radio will be going on the road this summer with Bayou Boy to give you that look inside what drivers really deal with on the roads of America.)

Here is the podcast of the chat I had with him on the show.

As I have said before, truckers and bikers just go together. Truckers are use to being singled out for checks and inspections but what is the deal with Georgia and their picking on bikers? Discrimination? Profiling? Listen to what I think about these checkpoints.

Not a truck driver and wonder what the heck I am saying? Are you a trucker and want to learn some new lingo or just want to test your friends? Click on the picture above and learn all the trucker lingo that I use on the show, is in the songs I play or that the guest use in ours chats. Understand everything I say on the show and think you know them all and don’t need to learn any new lingo, then go test yourself and see if you are as savvy as you think you are.
